My neighbours and their occupations

You might have learnt or come across the meaning of neighborhood in the previous classes. The simple meaning of neighborhood is one who lives next to our house. Neighbors are very important members next to our family members. We have our neighbors who are ready to help us in our difficulties and hardship. The one who helps and shares our joy and sorrow is called a good neighbour.
we work for a living. The work which we do for our living is called a job or profession. People follow various occupations for their livelihood. on the other hand, occupation means a type of job the needs special skills, training
or even education.
phurthen sherpa lives with his parents in a small village of raswa district. his father is a teacher. he teaches in school. the people in his neighbourhood follow different occupations. some of them rear animals, some of them
are shopkeepers, while others are farmers, teachers, tailors and blacksmith.
Raj shrestha’s house lies next to the house of shyam gurung. he is a shopkeeper. he brings goods from the supermarket which is far away from his locality and keeps them in his shop for selling. People come and buy
Goods from his shop.
rajesh is the best friend of shyam gurung. his father is a carpenter in the village. people from other villages also
come to him to buy furniture.
Similarly, every neighbour in the locality does a different job so that villagers can ask for help from each other when they are in need. as for an example, Raj shrestha, who owns a shop goes to his neighbour who is a tailor.
all the neighbours in the locality are interdependent with each other’s help when in need. all the occupations of our neighbourhood are equally important. we must respect one’s job without discrimination.

 DUTY TOWARDS THE COMMUNITY
we live in our family. there are many families like ours in our neighbourhood. all these failies together from a community.thus, a community is a collection of families living together in a place. different families in a community carry out different types of work. the work of all the families together keep the community happy. all the members in a community are important. they should be loved and respected equally. let me tell you a story of a community to understand this better.
Harilal chaudhary was a ten year old boy. he belonged to the tharu community and lived in sarlahi district. his parents were rich farmers, who had a lot of agricultural land.other families around his house were not well-to-do.
some of them were traders, some landless workers and some porters.there was also a health worker  who looked after the community health-post. Harilal’s father did not interact with other people in the community and did not help them.
one day, harilal’s parents were away on work.he was alone at home with his old grandparents. suddenly his grandmother developed severe stomach ache. she called harilal and asked him for  some hot water and medicine.
Since there was no hot water, harilal lighted fire and placed a container for heating the water. he then looked for medicine, but could nt find it. he ran to his neighbour’s  house for help. Mrs sharmila was alone at home. However, when she heard harilal’s problem, she volunteered to go the medical shop and bring the medicine.
In the meantime, the fire that was left unattended somehow flared up. it had just started spreading. when Harilal ran back home he found the house on fire. Harilal was shocked. for a moment he became nervous not knowing what to do. Thereafter, he ran to the well and brought buckets of water to douse the flame. at the same time he shouted for help at the  top of his voice. Some neighbours heard him and rushed to help him. They helped him and saved his house. They also brought his grandmother out of the house.
The porters carried his grandmother to the health-post. The health assistant immediately gave her medicines. Some of the villagers stayed back with harilal and helped him in setting his house. Thus, harilal’s house was saved by the
Members of his community.
Harilal’s father wanted to thank them and give them some reward, but they did not accept it. They all said that it was their duty to help people in the community. from that day onwards Harilal’s father realised the importance
Of all the families in a community. He became very friendly and helpful to them.
From above the story, it is clear that in a community every member is equally important. it is also clear that we need help from the  community. we should also help other members of community.
